• 1982 Leuka is founded by Lester Cazin, a leukaemia patient at Hammersmith Hospital, to raise funds to support research.
  • 1986 It funds a major redevelopment of the Hammersmith's Dacie Ward, dedicated to the treatment of leukaemia patients.
  • 1998 A £10 million capital appeal is launched to fund the building of a new specialist Leukaemia centre at Hammersmith Hospital.
  • 1998-9 Leuka is adopted by Lord Levene of Portsoken as the sole beneficiary of the London Lord Mayor's Appeal.
  • 2002 The three-storey Catherine Lewis Centre opens its doors to patients and staff on Tuesday 25 June 2002.
  • 2002 In June, cyclists from the advertising industry take to the road, traversing 1,000km across the French Alps. Now held annually, 'The Fireflies Ride' has raised over £700K for Leuka.
  • 2004 A dedicated Clinical Trials Unit is opened to study new drugs and to design pioneering and effective therapies for leukaemia patients world-wide.
  • 2005 A new facility opens for processing blood and bone marrow stem cells destined for transplantation.
  • 2008 The 10th anniversary of 'Who's Cooking Dinner?' is held in central London. Since 1999, this annual culinary event has raised over £3.1 million for Leuka.
