The Christmas Challenge Round-up

07th December 2018

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is over for this year. It was a crazy week for us here at Leuka, but an inspiring one, as new and existing supporters came together to help us secure a match-funded injection of cash for our leukaemia research. Thank you to everyone who donated, retweeted, liked and shared.

In seven action-packed days we managed to raise a fantastic total of £15,594 (including Gift Aid). This will go to support Leuka projects like the one run by Dr Jasper de Boer and Dr Owen Williams at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. Their research is aimed at fast-tracking a new therapy for acute leukaemia, a condition often triggered by a previous cancer treatment and with very poor outcomes in very young patients.

They've already seen some very promising result in the lab, and with your continued support we hope to help them bring these advances to trials as quickly as possible. Read more about the project here.

It was a positive first experience with this kind of online fundraising event, and we hope to do more things like this in the future, to reach more new supporters and get even more vital funds to front-line blood cancer research.
