Characterisation of genetic abnormality in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia

Dr Lisa J Russell, Northern Institute for Cancer Research and John Goldman Fellow 2015

Dr Russell's team have identified a new genetic abnormality present in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Genetic material is lost between two genes on chromosome X, which leads to them becoming fused together. Dr Russell and her team plan to investigate the effects of this fusion event.

They are interested in these genes and whether there is a link between the genetic abnormality and patient outcome.
